Instances of Penang Forum misinforming the public about Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) & Penang South Reclamation (PSR)

  1. What is wrong with PTMP and PSI? on Malay Mail (18 February, 2020)
    Joshua Woo responded to a story in South China Morning Post dated 15 February, 2020.

  2. A rebuttal of information on PTMP
    Eric Cheah of Penang Forum wrote an article where he listed 7 reasons why PTMP is wrong. It received a rebuttal from Joshua Woo to set the record straight.

  3. Penang Chief Minister rubbished Khoo Salma Nasution's claim LRT EIA not publicly displayed on The Star (26 October, 2019)
    Khoo Salma Nasution alleged that the Envivonmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Bayan Lepas Light Rail Transit (LRT) was not publicly displayed. The Chief Minister responded saying that the EIA report was already displayed back in 2017 at 10 locations throughout Penang and Kuala Lumpur. On 26 Oct, Khoo Salma responded to the Chief Minister's statement, regarding herself a rebuke from Danny Gooi, the Penang State Assemblyman for Pengkalan Kota.

  4. Under 20 Percent of Boats Still Fish in Site Marked For Reclamation on Malay Mail (24 October, 2019)
    Khoo Salma Nasution claimed that the PSR area is a 'golden zone' for fishery, but in fact less than 20% of fishing boats operate at the area earmarked for PSR. The present catch is 58% lesser than 10 years ago, before any reclamation begins.

  5. Is "open Request for Proposal" an open tender? by Joshua Woo on Malay Mail (28 February, 2019)
    Penang Forum's Ahmad Hilmy and Lim Mah Hui alleged that the open request for proposal (RFP) used in the bidding for PTMP was not "open tender", even though open RFP was internationally recognized and used as open tender by World Bank and United Nations.

  6. 3-year procedures before PSR approved, says DOE by FMT reporters on Free Malaysia Today (4 October, 2019)
    Evelyn Teh, a researcher linked to Penang Forum, alleged that the approval process for PSR took only 2 days. The Chief Minister rebutted the claims, and the Department of Environment (DOE) also denied the claim, saying the proposed project had gone through the usual processing process, which took three years.

  7. Costly to demolish Penang's existing buildings for bus or tram system by Joshua Woo on Malay Mail (7 October, 2019)
    Lim Mah Hui of Penang Forum alleged that Halcrow's recommendation was cheaper than PTMP, but Halcrow's cost estimation was incomplete and unverified.

  8. Penang Forum's misinformation on PIL1 by Joshua Woo on Facebook (22 October, 2019)
    Penang Forum alleged that PIL1 will be congested by 2030 (5-7 years after completion), but as pointed out by former councillor Joshua Woo, this is based of misinformation.
